What is Nightfall 2019 – By The Light Of The Moon?

 

A family friendly exciting outdoor light-based event in Teesside on 5th & 6th December 4.30pm – 9.30pm (last entry 8pm) at Preston Park Museum & Grounds, Yarm Road, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 3RH. By the Light of the Moon is a self-guided moon themed light installation trail of beautiful artworks complemented with music, performance, storytelling with hot chocolates in hand and the Museum of the Moon!

 

A night that is just out of this world.

 

This event is pre-ticketed and tickets can be purchased via www.nightfallfestival.co.uk from 23rd September at 10am.

 

Nightfall is organised by Stellar Projects.

 

What is Nightfall 2019 about and what can I expect?

 

Nightfall 2019 is a light art trail through Preston Park where familiar sights will be transformed for the night with a series of light artworks and installations all based on the theme ‘By the Light of the Moon’, celebrating 50 years since the moon landings as well as moon myths and magic!

 

Art works include a kaleidoscope of butterflies and a sky full of stars! There will also be brand new art works created especially for the event by artists so expect some surprises on your night.

 

The trail will end with the Museum of the Moon by Luke Jerram; you can bask in the moonlight of this incredible 7m tall artwork and enjoy creative activities and entertainment to complete your Nightfall experience. There will be workshops and storytelling as well as live music, street food, hot chocolate, spiced cider and mulled wine to keep you warm!

When is Nightfall 2019?

 

Nightfall 2019 is on 5th & 6th December, 4.30pm – 8pm. This event is pre-ticketed and entry is staggered into 15 minute slots. You are advised to arrive promptly for your entry slot. Last entry slot is 8pm each night.

How do I get a ticket?

 

Tickets can be secured via www.nightfallfestival.co.uk from Monday 23rd September at 10am.The event starts at 4.30pm with 15min time slots and last entry at 8pm.

 

 Ticket options:

  • Standard ticket £6

  • Under 2s go free – but need a ticket so please purchase an Under 2 FREE ticket when purchasing the rest of your groups ticket.

  • Early bird tickets £5 – limited allocation on each slot and when they are gone, they are gone.

  • Family/group of 4 ticket £20

 

Every single person as part of your party including babies require a ticket so we can monitor numbers at the event.

 

There are a select number of specific special ticket allocations not available for general sale – these cover volunteers, Nightfall 2019 participants, press and event partners.

Parking information

Parking spaces are available to book alongside your tickets but please make use of public transport where possible. 

 

Please be aware that parking at the main museum car park is very limited, once the allocation for a time slot is full then you will be given the option to book a free park & ride ticket. 

If you have booked a Park & Ride parking ticket your wristbands, car park pass and Park & Ride location information will be posted out to you 2 weeks before the event. It will be posted to the address you used to place your ticket order. If you have a Park & Ride ticket do not attempt to park at the museum and do not attempt to park on Yarm Road or the local residential streets as they will be coned off and patrolled to keep them for residents only. We don't want to annoy the neighbours and would be grateful for your co-operation!

 

TICKET INFORMATION

 

Do I need a ticket for the event?

 

Yes, this event is limited capacity event and pre-ticketed. There will not be a ticket site at the event – you have to pre-purchase your ticket via www.nightfallfestival.co.uk from Monday 23rd September at 10am.

 

How many tickets can I book and group bookings?

 

You can book a total of 10 tickets in a single transaction when booking online if you would like to book for a larger number of tickets (e.g. 16), please complete your booking across two transactions. 

 

The booking process is monitored and Stellar Projects reserve the right to cancel excessive overbooking. If you have a specifically large booking it is either recommended to book as individual or you can email hello@stellar-projects.co.uk but again, group booking requests via email cannot be guaranteed due to the limited availability of tickets.

 

Do I need a ticket for my child/baby?

 

Yes – every single person on at Nightfall 2019 needs a ticket – no matter how small. Ages 2 and under go free – but need a ticket so please purchase an Under 2 FREE ticket when purchasing the rest of your groups’ tickets.

 

Do I need to print off my ticket?

 

Yes you can print your ticket off and show this as you enter Nightfall 2019 or you can show your ticket on your phone. But you will need a ticket for entry.

 

I’ve booked my ticket online but have not received my confirmation email / e ticket.

 

On occasion some email accounts may bounce confirmation emails from unknown sources into your SPAM folder rather than allow them directly into your main inbox. If you have purchased your ticket online but not received your confirmation or your ticket within a few minutes please check your SPAM folder first of all.

 

If your ticket is not in your SPAM folder please email hello@stellar-projects.co.uk with details of your booking (your name and email). We will resend your ticket within 48hours of receiving your enquiry (but usually much sooner).

 

Can I get tickets on the gate?

 

No – all tickets must be secured via www.nightfallfestival.co.uk from Monday 23rd September at 10am.

 

Can I return or exchange my ticket if I am unable to attend?

 

Tickets are non refundable - please see ticket policy for details. In most cases, if you are no longer able to attend, then ticket exchanges are at your own discretion. In particular circumstances we may be able to assist and email hello@stellar-projects.co.uk with details of your booking (your name and email).

 

Additional Needs and Accessibility

 

Are there any issues to consider for people with disabilities gaining access to the event?

 

We are committed to ensuring that visitors with disabilities and additional needs are not prevented from enjoying Nightfall 2019 because of access needs.

 

The event does have elements of noise, fire and smoke.

 

The pathways around the park are fully accessible for wheelchair users and the moon location at the end of the trail takes place on a flat grassed area. However, the woodland section of the trail is not accessible for wheelchair users due to a steep incline at the end of the river section. Information on the alternative accessible route will be available at the event entrance and Nightfall staff will be available to answer questions and advise on site.

 

The woodland section may be difficult those with impaired mobility, particularly in the case of bad weather. If you are unsure please ask event staff at the entrance to advise and an alternative accessible route may be suggested.

 

The site is suitable for push chairs through-out; please note there is a steep incline at a point in the woodland walk where stewards will be located to help if required. Alternatively a buggy park will be available at the event entrance.

Designated disabled parking spaces are located within the main car park, adjacent to Café Tees.

 

A complimentary essential companion ticket is available to those who need assistance from another person in order to move around safely around the event. Once you have booked your ticket please e-mail hello@stellar-projects.co.uk to request your companion ticket and book a disabled car parking space if required.

 

Will there be strobe lighting?

 

There may be lighting sequences created within the design of some of the art features that will have some flashing lights contained within them. However, there will be no strobe lighting.

Toilets

 

Toilets (including accessible toilets) are available during the event and are located in the main car park, the Victorian Street and at the Moon finale site.

 

Early Entry & Relaxed Sessions

 

Our relaxed session time slot is timeslot – 4.30pm. Perfect for anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed performance environment – including those with an autism spectrum condition or learning disability.

 

 What's different?

•          Fewer visitors allocated for this timeslot

•          Changes to the sound and lighting levels along the trail so that the experience is  more accessible if you have sensory sensitivities

•          Alternative route options which avoid areas which may be more overwhelming

•          A relaxed performance guide which details what to expect in each area to enable visitors to plan their route

EVENT SPECIFIC INFORMATION

 

When do I have to arrive for?

 

Attendees should arrive promptly for their timeslot – no more than 10minutes early or 10minutes late than their purchased time slot. Time slots are every 15minutes from 4.30pm – 8pm. Last entry is 8pm.

 

Is the event suitable for children?

 

Yes, this event is family friendly; however, an adult must accompany children and young adults under the age of 16.

 

Can I bring my dog?

 

NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED

 

There are flame and light effects and large numbers of people which make it unsuitable for even the best behaved dog. Assistance dogs will be accommodated. 

 

What should I wear?

 

Nightfall 2019 is an outdoor event designed to go ahead in any weather, so please dress accordingly – we suggest lots of layers, scarves and gloves! Although the space is lit, there will be areas and moments during the show that are dark so sturdy footwear is also advisable.

 

How long does the experience last?

 

Nightfall 2019 will last from 1hr-2hrs depending on your dwell time – you are also welcome to go around the light trail again.

 

Can I use my camera?

 

Yes, but recording of images and filming for commercial reasons is strictly prohibited.

 

What if it is raining, windy or cold?

 

The event is designed to go ahead in all reasonable weather. We recommend that ticket-holders dress appropriately with warm clothing and suitable footwear.

 

If we do have to cancel the event due to extreme circumstances, ticket holders will be contacted via email supplied at point of booking and, announcements will be made via Facebook and Twitter as well as in local press. Please see refund/cancellation policy for further details.

Food & Drinks

Please note no alcohol is included with your ticket.

 

There will be food and drinks concessions available on site should you wish to use them

Alcohol will be available to buy on site by adults over the age of 18. If you are planning to buy alcohol please be aware that you may need to verify your age on request with evidence that you are over the age of 18 - valid ID must include a photograph, date of birth and holographic mark examples include: photo card driving license, passport, a proof of age card with the PASS hologram

By Train

Preston Park Museum & Grounds is about a 12 minute walk from Eaglescliffe Railway Station, operated by Northern. Grand Central also run services between Sunderland and London.

 

By Bus

The museum is on a well serviced bus route with a stop at the entrance to the grounds.

How do I get to the event by car?

 

Parking is extremely limited so we do champion using public transport to and from the event.
